Our Mission is to serve the public by earning their trust in law enforcement, crime prevention, corrections, dispatch and emergency services. We achieve this by employing highly motivated, professionally trained team members who are committed to increasing public involvement and education, inter-agency cooperation and efficiently utilizing county resources. 

The Macon County Sheriff's Department is committed to providing high quality and cost effective public safety services to Macon County. It is our job to maintain peace in the county with courage, fairness, honesty, and integrity. Our duties include a wide range of public safety responsibilities including: law enforcement, dispatch, maintaining and operating a jail, delivery of civil papers, execution of court orders, providing safety and security to the county courthouse, organizing search and rescue operations and preparing for and coordinating responses to public safety emergencies in Macon County. 

Andre' Brunson, Sheriff

Sheriff Brunson is a proud graduate of Tuskegee University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.  He was a member of the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers Football Team.  Upon graduation, he served as the District Resource Officer and Chief of Security for the Macon County School System, which began his career in law enforcement.

Sheriff Brunson attended and was APOST Certified at the Montgomery Police Academy in 1997.  He also attended basic and advanced SWAT School, at the North East Law Enforcement Academy.  He went on to Jackson State University, where he received Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training and Active Shooter Training.  He has been certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention as an Instructor and numerous other instructor-level courses. He began working as a Deputy Sheriff at the Macon County Sheriff's Department, along with his positions as District Resource Officer and Security Chief for 23 years, until he was elected Macon County Sheriff in 2014.

Sheriff Brunson took office as Sheriff of Macon County on January 20, 2015.  He is now serving his second term.  In addition to his job as Sheriff, he is also an ISSA Personal Trainer and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach at Tuskegee University.  He has served as a coach at Tuskegee University for the past 23 years. 

Sheriff Andre' Brunson is the son of Anderson and Louise Brunson. A native of Lake Wells, Florida, Sheriff Brunson graduated from Lake Wells High School. He is married to Courtney Kennedy Brunson of Tuskegee, Alabama.  They have four children:  Andre' Jr and Shonte' (twins); Kambria, a 2015 graduate of Tuskegee University (Hospitality Management); Tahlia, a 2016 Tuskegee University graduate (Social Work).  Sheriff Brunson has one grandson, Jeremy Cloud, Jr. Sheriff Brunson is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated; Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church; Mt. Nebo Masonic Lodge #511; Alabama Sheriffs Association; National Sheriffs Association; NAACP; and the Macon County Democratic Conference.
